DeepSeek Harness v0.2.1-alpha.4 moves two configuration-heavy features into the UI: per-model reasoning levels for custom API models and custom index sources in Plugin Manager. It also tightens plugin compatibility checks and fixes command input, Office delivery, Developer Tools refresh, and Linux startup behavior.

Install and channel status

This is a prerelease, not npm latest. To test it explicitly:

Stable-channel users do not need to upgrade solely for these features. Plugin authors, custom model providers, and teams running a private plugin catalog have the clearest reason to test it.

Per-model reasoning levels

Custom API providers can now declare reasoning choices for each model in the UI. Models under one provider no longer have to inherit a shared capability declaration that may not match the upstream API.

After migration, verify each model separately: whether the provider accepts the parameter, whether its level names match, and what is actually sent in the request. A visible UI option does not guarantee upstream support.

Custom plugin indexes

Plugin Manager can add custom index sources, allowing internal catalogs to sit beside the public market. This affects version resolution, dependency synchronization, and trust—not just discovery. Pin the index endpoint, validate package provenance, and keep build-script permissions narrow.

Compatibility now primarily uses engines.dsh. Plugin authors should declare the supported DSH range in package.json instead of relying on older fields or runtime inference.

Fixes and upgrade checks

The release improves command-input boundaries, Office file delivery, Developer Tools refresh recovery, and Linux startup. Before upgrading, back up Profiles and plugin settings. Then test custom-model reasoning, custom indexes, plugin toggles, and one real file-delivery workflow. Plugin projects should add engines.dsh and test both alpha.4 and the current stable release.
