DeepSeek Harness v0.2.1-rc.2 follows the broad rc.1 consolidation with two focused integrations: DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 and the standalone Search and Fetch APIs. The changelog is short, but it directly changes model selection and how an Agent discovers and reads web content.

Install and channel status

rc.2 is published on npm next; npm latest remains 0.2.0-rc.2. An unpinned npx @deepseek-ai/dsh web therefore does not install this candidate automatically.

DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017

1017 is a minor V4.1 Flash update. The API still uses deepseek-flash, with unchanged request syntax and pricing. DeepSeek reports gains in reasoning, coding, Agent, and vision tasks, together with shorter task time and output.

Existing DSH providers normally should not invent a new API model ID. What changes is the model catalog and runtime support. DeepSeek recommends DSH rc.1 or later, and rc.2 explicitly includes 1017 support.

Search and Fetch APIs

When enabled in Web Search settings, DSH can use Search to discover results and Fetch to retrieve Markdown content from a selected page. Both use the same DeepSeek account key as the model API, but have separate endpoints, limits, and billing.

Keep discovery and reading separate: narrow the query with site, language, date, and exclusion operators, then fetch only the pages needed for the task. This reduces irrelevant text entering the Agent context.

Post-upgrade checks

  1. Confirm deepseek-flash is available; do not create a custom 1017 API ID.
  2. Enable Search/Fetch and complete one search plus one page fetch.
  3. Check account balance, endpoint usage, and rate-limit behavior.
  4. Continue the rc.1 migration checks for plugins, long Sessions, and Remote workflows.

If historical sessions remain on disk but disappear from the sidebar after the upgrade, use the invisible-session diagnosis and recovery guide to separate header, duplicate-ID, and workspace-registry paths before changing any session directory.
